Environments of Tomorrow is delivered virtually from India, in hybrid format of lightning talks plus panel discussion, featuring three contemporary architects addressing ethical futures of India’s built environment.
Environments of Tomorrow is a perspective on the ‘state of India’s (built) environment,’ and the ways in which this intersects with palpable effects of climate change, environmental degradation, and resource mismanagement. Representing an ethical community of industry practitioners associated with Manipal University Jaipur, this is 90 minute long session of lighting talks and a panel discussion featuring architects with diverse expertise: Sanjay Prakash (an expert on bamboo as resource, construction material, and tectonic poetry, as well as a champion of systems thinking around resilience, identity, sufficiency, and equity); Chitra Vishwanath (a champion of water conservation; earthen architecture; and eco-villages); and Akshay Kaul (landscape architecture practice which crosses into domains of ecological planning, biodiversity, and landscape restoration, as well as traditional livelihoods).
